Frank Lloyd Wright
65Frank Lloyd Wright was an American architect, interior designer, and writer, who designed hundreds of structures in the United States during the late 1800's and up until the mid 1900's. Some of Frank Lloyd Wright's most famous works were The Guggenheim Museum and Falling Water, which is a house constructed over a water fall.
Throughout his life he designed many original structures and designs. They were very different from the usual buildings and structures for their uniqueness of design. Some have said that he was the greatest architects of all time.
Frank Lloyd Wright started his career in Chicago as a draftsman for an architectural firm in the late 1800's. The rest is history. If you ever see a building that isn't square with coinciding square windows in mundane places, it could very well be an original Frank Lloyd Wright or influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright.
I have included many videos of Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Falling Water structure and some photographs of some of his other work and structures. I think you can get to know Frank Lloyd Wright, the man and the architect, best, by examining his work, much more than words can ever do justice.
I hope that you enjoy his work as much as I do. Some of the structures he designed are worth literally fortunes in price and historical value.

He was the genuine article....innovative, creative, masterful. His work remains an extraordinary tribute. Thank you for giving him due credit with your piece. Very informative and interesting.
I took an art class in college where we studied Frank Lloyd Wright for a few days. The teacher loved him. So I have seen that water fall house before. He really is something! Definitely worth writing about. Great hub, Phoenix! You write very well.
There is a fantastic Wright tour here in Oak Park, Illinois. If you're ever visiting.......... make the stop. You'll enjoy! Kaie
very beautiful.
Thanks Phoenix.
I love architecture. Your article is very informative. I like the way Frank Loyd Wright blended his designs with nature. I always wanted to be an architect when I was young. Thanks for sharing. I will read more. Teresa
...hey that just looks like my house - and believe or not it's a well kept secret in my neighborhood where I live - but what is not a well kept secret is this wonderful hub which you have obviously injected a lot of your time, energy and love into!!!
Frank Loyd Wright is my absolute favorite. His homes were the most unique of anybody I have seen. He was also way ahead of his time. His flow with nature makes his homes exquisite. I get a strong sense of peace when I am in one. Great hub.
Howdy PhoenixV - I enjoyed your Wright article and the nifty photos. My father was a licensed architect and pretty much a contemporary of FL Wright. My Dad enjoyed "competing" with Wright, but he specialized in designing buildings of materials native to the site, like big rocks, etc. One place he designed reminded me of Mt. Vernon, Washington's place. It was mostly solid granite with clapboards to make it handsome. The place was the longest house in creation. They had a live-in maid who told me that she made her employer issue some roller skates to her so that she could "get around" the place. There was a big swimming pool that had been blasted out of the solid granite on the place, and that was a lot of the granite that went into the walls of the house. The swimming pool was also huge. The owner was a manufacturer of bathing suits - no wonder, right?
Gus :-)))
Hey PhoenixV - I'd like to do that, but I have no photos of the place, the people who owned it when last I saw it are all dead and gone now, and I live about 2,000 miles away and am too doggone old to travel. The only pix I have here of what my Dad designed were linked to his fun hobby - designing diners. What he explained to me about that stuff was that diner-designing was a real art. I would never have argued with Pop, but they all looked much alike to me.
Gus :-)))
Great hub on a person we should all know about. Sometimes we emphasize certain people in our history more so than others. Good and informative. Thank you for sharing.
Very pretty pics, architecture is not my thing and you even made it interesting to me. Good job! Now I will have to google his name to get pics to appreciate :)
In Peace and Love Always
Great examples of Wright's work. He was a man who worked on the edge not recognizing the boundaries set by humanity yet respecting those of science. His work and designs are timeless. He likely is the greatest of all times. Thanks for sharing! WB
I'm doing a school report on him right now. Thanks for the info.
Absolutely awesome!
PhoenixV love the hub. I used to live in Mason City, Iowa just around the corner from the Stockman House. In that area of town some of his students and followers of his style built homes there.

I love his designs. My favorite is Falling Water but I love all of his designs. It would be good to label the other two photos.
Thanks.
