You may have heard of, or possibly even already own a smart TV or some other type of internet television. Basically, they are televisions that have access to the internet with varying capabilities depending on the systems. With these internet TV's or what would be more accurately called "smart TV's, you can either watch television or surf the internet or both. While watching your TV you can update your Twitter, chat with Facebook friends or watch a YouTube video.

Now there are reports or rumors that Apple is coming out with their own version of a smart internet TV, presumably called the Apple iTV. With the amazing financial successes of their other computer products such as the iPhone and the iPads, Apple may be considering branching out into the internet television business. Potentially turning a 52' flat screen TV into the world's largest iPhones or iPads!

Possible Apple iTV Features

Wouldn't it be great if, from the comfort of your recliner you could access your favorite social sites such as Twitter or Facebook, all without touching a keyboard? It is speculated that an Apple iTV would use Apple’s voice assistant called Siri, (already in use on their iPhones) with voice recognition, so that you can potentially surf the internet simply by asking it to. Apples's iTV might also work in conjunction with their other mobile devices and/or be used as a gaming system, as well.

Apple iTV might also have the ability for the system to be capable of recognizing hand gestures to control parts of it's system. This would be similar to Kinect, which is a motion sensing technology from Microsoft, for their Xbox 360 video games. When coupled with it's voice recognition software, this may make surfing the internet, without a keyboard, the most preferred or commonly used way.

Rumors are coming from major television retailers who have also been speculating and inquiring on whether consumers would be interested in an Apple iTV, which only fuels expectations of the iTV's eventual release. Amid those inquires are rumors surrounding major global broadband and telecommunications carriers or services and major television services, in regards to who will be providing peripheral services connected with the alleged iTV. As far as I know, Apple has neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of iTV's coming out in the very near future.

Estimated price? $1,500
